BLOOD HANDSOME: 'NOSTALGIA HOLD' (STRICT TEMPO, RELEASED SEPT 5TH, DARKWAVE/SYNTH, REVIEW)

Image
Bog was due to write about Blood Handsome later on the schedule, but it was moved forward to feature something different from other underground music. Bog will be writing from the stance of what he hears, he doesn't know too much about this/or the particular style/scene, so disclaimer alert. Bog writes about what he hears, and how it makes him think/feel. Blood Handsome opens with Abandon,  which is an up tempo track with a beat that people can move/bounce too. Futuristic and feels ahead of its time, but also embodies the synth/goth influences, which Bog can hear. I guess dark synth with a little cyberpunk to a point that invokes the imagination to think of cyberpunk movies/novels, and generally space/planets, and all things in the not so distant future.  Abandon has a sinister/dark vibe, leaving the impression of robots dancing on a space station. Leaving imagination world for a moment, and turning attention to the music itself for a deeper dive, an attempted one, hop...

PUTREVORE - UNENDING ROTTEN CYCLE (DEATH METAL, XTREEM MUSIC, RELEASED NOV 11TH, REVIEW)

Image
Unending Rotting Cycle opens with a Doomy Death introduction, then transcending into OSDM. It has the classic Death/Doom/HM2 crossover vibes in the vein of Autopsy/Cianide, and such, then throw in some horror based classic death metal, and we are presented with Putrevore’s new offering Unending Rotten Cycle . There are good tempo changes throughout the album, and the production is not too clean to lose the rawness. Strong riffs, drums, solid vocals and are on point, and quite lo-fi ish vibe to the album. Enjoyable relentless headbanging. Direct and ear grabbing In closing: Not bad at all. Think of a bogey that has escaped planet nasty pants, it’s arrived and is a seed of dirt ridden mosh eager to fly around spreading dirt ridden death metal designed not to be forgettable. Furious OSDM with a Death Doomy beginning on the first track.  Putrevore https://www.facebook.com/putrevore https://www.xtreemmusic.com/

ARCHITECTURAL GENOCIDE - MALIGNANT COGNITION (BRUTAL DEATH METAL, COMATOSE MUSIC, RELEASED JAN 16TH, 2026, REVIEW)

Image
Malignant Cognition is very solid Brutal Death Metal with strong riffs and bestial gutturals. The drums are a little of a hitting a pot sound sometimes, but it doesn’t really bother Bog considering his love of grindcore and hardcore, which can be much rougher. This is all about the heavies, swinging heads around that are full of sweat and parting with buckets of it. Would be best served to play in a venue with no air conditioning, so the sweat can fall off the ceiling back to the pit below. Bog also would like to note the good album cover, pretty sick artwork.  Sometimes, there is no shame standing up and saying, 'I’ve never been kicked in the balls so hard as when I listened to Architectural Genocide .' In closing: 23 mins of beautiful carnage and very enjoyable listen for fans of Brutal Death and extreme heavy music.  Architectural Genocide: https://www.facebook.com/architecturalgenocide/ https://www.comatosemusic.com/

SHORTER REVIEWS FOR A BRIEF TIME (BACKLOGGED)

Dis claimer, incredibly backlogged, which is why Bog has struggled to update during the previous month. There is a long review due to be posted for an electronic genre submitted from Strict Tempo , but other write ups will be  shorter until a comfortable position is found again soon. Regards and thank you, Bog!
