CRUENTUS - END WITHOUT END (BLACKENED DEATH METAL, KVLT UND KAOS PRODUCTIONS, RELEASED 3/10/25, REVIEW)

Image
CRUENTUS return with forthcoming album End Without End due for release on October 3rd, via Kvlt Und Kaos Productions . When you start listening to the LP, it will soon become apparent that it's something different and is a balanced album. It's intelligently composed music, which hopefully receives the credit and recognition, and not easily passed by. It's not the usual tropes, obviously the music hooks you in, then you can see that there are different concepts, which adds to the satisfying feeling experienced when listening.  Vocally, CRUENTUS doesn't sound like a haunted paper bag in the cellar angry that it couldn't watch the latest episode of Knitting Watch with Auntie Fanny. Vocals are raw, aggressive, but not to the point with some bands where it does indeed sound like that angry flying bag with the air passing through, I guess washing machine production.  Musically, End Without End is extremely balanced and structured to offer fast, medium, and slow part...

BEAUTIFUL FREAKIN' WEIRDO: ZAP THE FEAR (INDUSTRIAL METAL, RELEASED INDEPENDENTLY 08/08/25, REVIEW)

Image
Beautiful Freakin' Weirdo released Zap The Fear a few months ago and is an Industrial Metal offering featuring 3 high octane tracks through a lyrical, and musical journey about real world hell and the psychological connection to it. I am Fire   has an upbeat rhythm with a consistent pace designed to keep people on the dance floor. It's kind of a mix between Static X with Rob Zombie with a slow acid techno hook coming around 2 minutes in. The vocals deliver the chorus effectively with a catchy riff serving as the signature for the song along with a fast paced beat for the drums with fairly high BPM. Psychohead continues on from the fast opening to maintain the pace and not allow people to leave the dancefloor. The drums are particularly good on this track, and support the guitars and vocals nicely. Vocals again deliver the lyrics and their message clear with a chorus for fans to sing along, or shout out on the dance floor. Pyschohead is definitely more on the metal side compa...

FÆNGS (INDUSTRIAL/DARK SYNTH, LEAVIATHAN, SINGLE, RELEASED 1/9/25, REVIEW )

Image
FÆNGS new single  Leviathan  is a b eautiful dark track, which could be taken straight from a sci-fi film with sprawling sky scrapers and cars flying between them. Vocally there is a dual offering from a grim harsh tone, reminiscent of black metal vocals, slower and clearer, but with a sinister synthetic approach. Bog probably has watched too many sci-fi movies, but it's a hook for sure. The other vocals are clean, soft, and mellow, and layer  Leviathan with a narrative quality like a story teller singing from their perspective. It's compelling and catches the imagination. Musically, slow tempo Dark Synth and a little Cyberpunk combining Industrial overtones, and a futuristic background melody. There are also some dance stepping sections for your feet, which Bog needs to do soon on the treadmill, but that's another story.  An enjoyable well produced track that is both stimulating and good sci-fi music in our opinion. WARMARSHAL - THE DISEASED (INDIAN DEATH METAL, SINGLE, RELEASED OCT 2ND, REVIEW)

Image
Bog is no stranger to the Indian extreme metal scene, which has gone from strength since the days of Narsil. Warmarshal's  forthcoming new single ' The Diseased ' is a worthy anthem for our swamp legions to sally forth across the fog ridden lands. The Diseased sounds like Bolt Thrower fused with thrash, which gives the track a level of speed and ferocity. Drumming is solid with good riffs and a nice solo around 2 minutes. The guitarist's vocals are also clear, angry, and distinguishable. Overall, a nice listen with good audio levels, and a strong head banging feel! BLACK ANGEL - CREEPERS AND SHADOWS (GOTH ROCK, SINGLE, INDEPENDENTLY RELEASED 19/9/25, REVIEW)

Image
Creepers and Shadows is the new single from Goth Rockers Black Angel . It's taken from the 7th album, Poison Garden , which is coming soon.  The single is a slow paced track with a dark brooding mood with clear strong lead and backing vocals. The instruments are solid with a memorable melody coming to the forefront and running in the background, and they complement the overall feel of Creepers and Shadows . CONDITION CRITICAL - DEGENERATION CHAMBER (SELF RELEASED, SEP 5TH) (THRASH, REVIEW)

Image
Condition Critical are back with new album ' Degeneration Chamber ', which was recently independently released on September 5th. Bog found this a difficult one to scribe. Why? Because this is really good, no frills, in your face pure thrash metal the way it should be. The great unclean hands shall try to sum up what is contained beyond the superb artwork we can see above.  Bog likes Degeneration Chamber a lot, it cheerfully encouraged himself to climb on a dive board and jump off belly first into the water splashing everyone in the vicinity whilst he laughed. It's i ntense, fast, aggressive, raw, and has old school fury combined with excellent production, which does not fail to lose the energy.  Wretched Aggression and Deconstructive Horrors are of full bullet belt riffs and only should be listened to whilst wearing proper metal pants that haven't been washed for some time. Cranial Dissolution follows the opening two tracks and   its more no frills, no filler, just...

AMULET - "SO COLD" (RISING PHOENIX) (SINGLE, DARKWAVE, DISTORTION PRODUCTIONS, REVIEW)

Image
So Cold (Rising Phoenix)  is the first single from the forthcoming EP ' Purification ' due for release via Distortion Productions on November, 28th.  Amulet is a DC artist and So Cold (Rising Phoenix) is the synthpop incarnation of the darkwave rock track of the same name, and is a faster paced re-imagined version.  It has a contagious tempo with clear vocals that flow in and out with the melody. A very goth tone from what Bog could hear, which has been nicely laced on top of the beat. It's well composed, sectioned together strongly with the hook and transitions. Bog could hear the riffs in the background on an earlier part of the song, which was a good touch, and Bog assumed they are maybe from the original version of So Cold . We aren't too familiar with this style of music, or the artist, but Stephanie Stryker's vocals stand out. They also carry a style that could transfer across  to goth rock/goth metal, and possibly traditional heavy metal. We aren't sure ...

DYSENTERY - DEJECTION CHRYSALIS (BRUTAL DEATH/SLAM, REVIEW, RELEASED NOV 7TH, COMATOSE MUSIC)

Image
Introduction Ten years have passed since ‘Fragments’ was released and Dysentery have returned with forthcoming album ‘Dejection Chrysalis’ , which is due for release through Comatose Music on November 7 th . Dysentery are back to present a no filler album that is up there with all previous releases. Sometimes, we hear albums/Eps from bands, and you wish there was more time taken in recording the album, as a particular part feels missing. None of that here with Dejection Chrysalis . This a piece of music that has been worked on incredibly hard, and if you enjoy all things heavy, then this isn't to be passed by. There are guest vocal appearances from Josh Welshman (Defeated Sanity), Jared Weed (Concrete, Futility) and JT Knight (Invoke Thy Wrath). For those interested I in the artwork for the album cover it was done by Hidris (Anhedonic, Reign Of Erebus, Snakepit etc). Dejection Chrysalis made Bog relive his memory of the 4th Bog War, a bloody conflict between Bog creatures and ou...
