CONDITION CRITICAL - DEGENERATION CHAMBER (SELF RELEASED, SEP 5TH) (THRASH, REVIEW)
Condition Critical are back with new album 'Degeneration Chamber', which was recently independently released on September 5th. Bog found this a difficult one to scribe. Why? Because this is really good, no frills, in your face pure thrash metal the way it should be. The great unclean hands shall try to sum up what is contained beyond the superb artwork we can see above.
Bog likes Degeneration Chamber a lot, it cheerfully encouraged himself to climb on a dive board and jump off belly first into the water splashing everyone in the vicinity whilst he laughed. It's intense, fast, aggressive, raw, and has old school fury combined with excellent production, which does not fail to lose the energy.
Wretched Aggression and Deconstructive Horrors are of full bullet belt riffs and only should be listened to whilst wearing proper metal pants that haven't been washed for some time.
Cranial Dissolution follows the opening two tracks and its more no frills, no filler, just a mad beast thrashing crazily, and is extremely good at what it does.
Hydroponic Mutation contains a good windmill solo and carries forth the energy and pace to maintain the ears attention span.
Postmortal Simulation is a complete bulldozer, featuring axe riffing that made Bog faint with excitement and was a strong favorite to set up the next tracks that amp up the aggression further.
Psychological Epidemic is another rager, angry ass riffing introduces the track with some slight death metal coming in parts, very slight, but it's on the drums after a mosh passage and is equally furious.
Incubation Disposal is an awesome track containing well timed riffs, mid tempo builds, and serious windmill sections, and accompanying squat dancing moments. Just wait until around 1.30 ish, then Incubation Disposal hits you in the face with a moth ridden sock! There is a good solo around 3 mins, which only stops just after 4 mins. Bog shit the pants.
Cryonic Intestinal Preservation is just like the earlier tracks, it really doesn't slacken, another favorite of Bog's. Speed, pace, consistency and has a hardcore influence.
Excarnation closes Degeneration Chamber, it doesn't slacken or allow the listeners to get off the train so easily. Again, we stress no filler, or dropping off the quality for the finish. Condition Critical are still angry, thrashy, and want you to hear it!
Closing thoughts: Bog really appreciated Degeneration Chamber, it's a heavy, fast, aggressive album maintaining those qualities for thrash metal in all areas. There are no skip tracks, nothing to bore you, it's clearly been wrote for the metal heads to head bang, pit, mosh, and jump around. It feels and sounds like a metal album that utilizes clean audio production to present something new, but also remaining faithful to the rawer and early wave of thrash with plates of boiling rage, the way thrash should be.
Bog would really like to ride around on a golf buggy whilst playing Degeneration Chamber shouting 'golf sucks', because it does.
