MOAAN EXIS (INDUSTRIAL/NEO INDUSTRIAL/PUNK/METAL) (REVIEW) – "UNPREDICTABLE"(SEPT 4TH, 2025)

Image
Moan Exis’s ‘Unpredictable’ is a release Bog really wanted to share with the Bogs. Bog spent some time tickling the muck pools, they eventually gave in to the stimulation and spat out ' Unpredictable ' for us to spew about. Unpredictable dropped back in September, 2025, but it’s a special multi layered album with maximum crossover potential. There are anarchic punk vocals intertwined with industrial, a little metal, and other notable harsh electronic sounds. Bog will not make the comparison to every other artist that people may suggest, but as always, we want the artists to be judged on their own merit.  Whilst listening to Unpredictable , Bog was flying his glider near The Reaping Sands ,   surveying the barren and desolate landscape. Bog couldn't help lick his lips and think how Moan Exis's music would be so sick in a set based in an abandoned factory with the reverb potential to echo forth into the Bog Lands.  Before we break the tracks down. This is both fu...

BOG REVIEW - "THE MEDEA PROJECT" - "Komēn: Facets" (DARKWAVE/INDUSTRIAL/EBM/DARK AMBIENT) (RELEASED JUNE 26TH, BDB PRODUCTIONS)

Image
Purgatory Release Bannnnnggg! Darkwave with some industrial/ebm ish spliced in. Bog has his stomp boots ready, 3, 2, 1, and on the intro let’s go! Bog has been on the cakes a little recently, belly jumped like 10 stomps forward before his big ass feet had even wriggled.  March to 500 steps is the current community campaign and Bog has trouble marching to the grill. Funny, when you shout, ‘C ook ya f*-c-k-e-r- ’, the grill just doesn't seem to answer, but turn your head for one second, and it's done compared to when you stand watching it for 10 minutes for nothing to happen. Bog thinks a golf demon has infected it, because it's the same process. Hours of f*-c-k- all and it causes Bog to lapse into a trance of numbness. Golf, the evil of our times, be careful y'all, that shitty ass sport works its mind prison games. Ok, enough of the rebellious grills. Let’s cook this music up for y’all. The intro drum pattern is sick industrial/ebm ish, then the synth line drops at 0:1...

BOG REVIEW - "MANGLED CARPENTER" (EXTREME METAL) - 'BETWEEN BLOOD AND SILENCE' (RELEASED JULY 17TH, ROTTWEILER RECORDS & BROKEN CURFEW RECORDS)

Image
Disclaimer: Bog is dealing with extreme weather patterns in the Bog Lands, so our usual deep dive approach is on the shelf until the storms subside.  1. Between Blood and Silence - The title track and opening is an angry heavy death grind attack with hardcore riffing, and industrial overtones. It's an interesting combination, which features on other tracks and gives Mangled Carpenter a distinct signature tone. Bog's earphones detected the audio was a little off on the drum programming with the tin-ish sound, but it's only really noticeable on the breakdown riffs, and is more in the background. No big issue, during a live set tweaking the EQ or lowering the drums on the mixer could resolve this issue.  2. Carved – Has that post-apoc atmosphere with dark industrial overtones and death groove, grind, and the darker side of nu metal featuring hardcore breakdown riffs, and harsh vocals, but you can understand them. The lyrics are good and thought out, and caught Bog’s ear. ...

BEAUTIFUL FREAKIN' WEIRDO: ZAP THE FEAR (INDUSTRIAL METAL, RELEASED INDEPENDENTLY 08/08/25, REVIEW)

Image
Beautiful Freakin' Weirdo released Zap The Fear a few months ago and is an Industrial Metal offering featuring 3 high octane tracks through a lyrical, and musical journey about real world hell and the psychological connection to it. I am Fire   has an upbeat rhythm with a consistent pace designed to keep people on the dance floor. It's kind of a mix between Static X with Rob Zombie with a slow acid techno hook coming around 2 minutes in. The vocals deliver the chorus effectively with a catchy riff serving as the signature for the song along with a fast paced beat for the drums with fairly high BPM. Psychohead continues on from the fast opening to maintain the pace and not allow people to leave the dancefloor. The drums are particularly good on this track, and support the guitars and vocals nicely. Vocals again deliver the lyrics and their message clear with a chorus for fans to sing along, or shout out on the dance floor. Pyschohead is definitely more on the metal side compa...

'ELEKTRIKILL' (INDUSTRIAL/ELECTRO, REVIEW) - 'Küntzpiracy' (RELEASED JUNE 26TH, EVOL MUSIC GROUP)

Image
DISCLAIMER: BOG WORLD weather conditions are adversely affecting the bog scribing stability. Long-form multi-selector breakdowns are on hold at the moment, so we are running short, rapid-fire reviews for now. Elektrikill's 'Küntzpiracy'   is a super mega sick album with a mood-setting opening from the first two tracks that take us into some absolute bangers, which Bog has quickly outlined below. 03. Vampire Blond feels like a cyberpunk tone with dark electro fused with a little industrial. It made Bog think of vampires and neo-industrial punks dancing to this in the future in a city at night. Or are the vamps watching the punks? Or vice versa? Nicely mixed, mastered, synced, and timed well, making it visually stimulating. 04. The Scream – Bog banged his head instantly, and the track has a  sinister high-frequency drop. There is also another solid drop around halfway with an excellent beat, making it a #peakstomp track for a set.  Bog liked the vocals on The Scream...

IAMINPERFECT - 'GHOSTS' EP, (RELEASED MAY 8TH, DARK ELECTRO, REVIEW)

Image
  1. Surviving Is Not Living.  Synth arrangements, melodic guitars parts straight from prog/melodic tones, with a small trace of Industrial Rock. Breakdown to go into an almost dark synth passage, which wouldn't be far away from a lighter cyberpunk injection. Intentionally harmonious with Electro coming towards the end of the track. Subtle use of atmosphere, also holds and grabs the listeners attention, possibly stimulating them to relate to the lyrical concepts. A little gentle for Bog’s flavor, but the music has been layered, mixed, contextualized, and presented very well. It’s not horrible by any measure and those who are fans of slow melancholy electro will feel it. Good vocal ranges to match the emotive feel. 2. The Fallen. Very futuristic electro synth feels and we can see a sky car flying past a skyscraper whilst The Fallen blasts out the sound system. The background melody serves as the foundation, helping generate the vibe of the track, harmonic, and it’s hard not to...

CHOKE CHAIN (INDUSTRIAL/DARK INDUSTRIAL, REVIEW) - 'DECOMPOSITION' EP (RELEASED JULY 10TH, NEGATIVE GAIN PRODUCTIONS)

Image
1.   Misunderstood – The harmonies are excellent, running nicely in the background, which is a noticeable theme throughout the Decomposition EP . Bog enjoyed the drum kick entering after the intro. Bog believes Chain Choke’s dual approach – the blend of harsh vocals with clean harmonic melodies in the background creates an unforgettable listening experience for the ear. On one side, there are anarchic punk vocals full of despair, frustration, anger, and anguish, and on the other, atmospheric harmonies to hook the listener. The bassline and drum patterns take us in and out of each section. Near the outro, a gradual fade-out takes us out with a powerful sample to close Misunderstood. 2. Decomposition – The title track features a nice bassy synth-ish line to start with the drum kick coming around 16 seconds in with a steady build transitioning into a rhythmic 1, 2. It’s a solid, strong rhythm and Bog was instantly counting the BPM. The drum pattern is as cold as an Arctic m...

FIRE STAFFS & SPARKS (BOG LORE)

Image
FIRE STAFFS The tribes danced and waved fire staffs around in circular motions. The flames whirled, hypnotic, mesmerizing, and matching the energy of the hard electronic beats. Chaotic, primal, and as heavy as anything from the Death Metal tribes. It was a new sound, something no one had yet heard on Bog Stenchmare . Not from the goth or industrial tribes; it was closer to extreme metal, but electronic. 180 BPM boomed over and over. No pause. No stop. Just a raw, angry, ferocious onslaught. The vox sample dropped in at 1:14: ‘ listen up ’. A gargantuan bassline dropped with harsh, slightly industrial overlays. The 180 BPM boomed again from the speaker systems set across the camps. The tribes, fully immersed, were now dancing in a tribal rave. In the center, a tall pyre lit up the night sky with a wooden gate burning on the top. Smash The Gate was coming. Bog was intent on waking up the disaffected. Whether they liked each other’s sounds or not, it didn’t matter. What mattered was the...

FÆNGS (INDUSTRIAL/DARK SYNTH, LEAVIATHAN, SINGLE, RELEASED 1/9/25, REVIEW )

Image
FÆNGS new single  Leviathan  is a b eautiful dark track, which could be taken straight from a sci-fi film with sprawling sky scrapers and cars flying between them. Vocally there is a dual offering from a grim harsh tone, reminiscent of black metal vocals, slower and clearer, but with a sinister synthetic approach. Bog probably has watched too many sci-fi movies, but it's a hook for sure. The other vocals are clean, soft, and mellow, and layer  Leviathan with a narrative quality like a story teller singing from their perspective. It's compelling and catches the imagination. Musically, slow tempo Dark Synth and a little Cyberpunk combining Industrial overtones, and a futuristic background melody. There are also some dance stepping sections for your feet, which Bog needs to do soon on the treadmill, but that's another story.  An enjoyable well produced track that is both stimulating and good sci-fi music in our opinion. FÆNGS:   Leviathan   https://ba...

(BOG REVIEW) - 'THE AEONS TORN' - 'RITE OF DREAD' (LOVECRAFTIAN BLACK METAL) (FIRST SINGLE FROM "VOID ARTEFAKKTS, RELEASED NOV 27, 2026)

Image
"Rite of Dread" from 0:00-0:17 opens up with a dredging churn that builds into the vocal drop at 0:17, which immediately takes the listener into an atmospheric and immersive world. Sonically, what helps is the pace of the drum beats that sync with the lead guitar notes in a consistent tempo. It's a good foundation because the instruments are counting down to the next drop, supported by the vocals that are in partnership. Bog could hear each verse delivered, timed, and layered on the guitars and drums very well. The arrangement in this section is thoroughly coordinated. 0:33-0:34 is one of Bog's favorite parts on the track because of the momentary pause with an effect Bog's muck-filled mind is trying to recall, but has gone blank! Super convenient. Bog has mentioned timing; well, there was bad timing on Bog's part during this review as the name has escaped him into the void. The transition from 0:34-0:52 features a strong signature guitar riff that appears th...
