BOG REVIEW - MYLLA ISSUES (DARKWAVE/COLDWAVE, SYNTH) - "MY (RAGE)" - (RELEASED JUNE 19TH, WAVE RECORDS)

Image
Super quick, rapid-fire review from the Boglands. The debut album from  MYLLA ISSUES ,  ' My (Rage )', recently dropped on June 19th on Wave Records . Quick mega Bog breakdown for y'all. 'My (Rage)' is mainly mid-paced, stompy feels with classic EBM/synth vibes mixed with darkwave and coldwave. The production is good and clean, with nice samples that flow with the core foundations of each track. There were a few tracks Bog didn't quite feel. They were produced and composed well; they just didn't quite hit the spot like the other tracks.  Bog's Thoughts:  Overall, it is a solid dark/coldwave album with dark, atmospheric goth feels. Bog has listed some bangers below that are some of the standout tracks on the album. 1. 'Creature of June' -   A very synthy, EBM, and darkwave-infused track with good stomp vibes. Mid-paced tempo. 3. 'Modern Vampires' - One of the bangers for sure, and it had to be placed on the list.  4. 'Cold Hearted S...

BOG REVIEW - "THE MEDEA PROJECT" - "Komēn: Facets" (DARKWAVE/INDUSTRIAL/EBM/DARK AMBIENT) (RELEASED JUNE 26TH, BDB PRODUCTIONS)

Purgatory Release Bannnnnggg! Darkwave with some industrial/ebm ish spliced in. Bog has his stomp boots ready, 3, 2, 1, and on the intro let’s go! Bog has been on the cakes a little recently, belly jumped like 10 stomps forward before his big ass feet had even wriggled.  March to 500 steps is the current community campaign and Bog has trouble marching to the grill. Funny, when you shout, ‘C ook ya f*-c-k-e-r- ’, the grill just doesn't seem to answer, but turn your head for one second, and it's done compared to when you stand watching it for 10 minutes for nothing to happen. Bog thinks a golf demon has infected it, because it's the same process. Hours of f*-c-k- all and it causes Bog to lapse into a trance of numbness. Golf, the evil of our times, be careful y'all, that shitty ass sport works its mind prison games. Ok, enough of the rebellious grills. Let’s cook this music up for y’all. The intro drum pattern is sick industrial/ebm ish, then the synth line drops at 0:1...

BLOOD HANDSOME: 'NOSTALGIA HOLD' (STRICT TEMPO, RELEASED SEPT 5TH, DARKWAVE/SYNTH, REVIEW)

Image
Bog was due to write about Blood Handsome later on the schedule, but it was moved forward to feature something different from other underground music. Bog will be writing from the stance of what he hears, he doesn't know too much about this/or the particular style/scene, so disclaimer alert. Bog writes about what he hears, and how it makes him think/feel. Blood Handsome opens with Abandon,  which is an up tempo track with a beat that people can move/bounce too. Futuristic and feels ahead of its time, but also embodies the synth/goth influences, which Bog can hear. I guess dark synth with a little cyberpunk to a point that invokes the imagination to think of cyberpunk movies/novels, and generally space/planets, and all things in the not so distant future.  Abandon has a sinister/dark vibe, leaving the impression of robots dancing on a space station. Leaving imagination world for a moment, and turning attention to the music itself for a deeper dive, an attempted one, hop...

AMULET - "SO COLD" (RISING PHOENIX) (SINGLE, DARKWAVE, DISTORTION PRODUCTIONS, REVIEW)

Image
So Cold (Rising Phoenix)  is the first single from the forthcoming EP ' Purification ' due for release via Distortion Productions on November, 28th.  Amulet is a DC artist and So Cold (Rising Phoenix) is the synthpop incarnation of the darkwave rock track of the same name, and is a faster paced re-imagined version.  It has a contagious tempo with clear vocals that flow in and out with the melody. A very goth tone from what Bog could hear, which has been nicely laced on top of the beat. It's well composed, sectioned together strongly with the hook and transitions. Bog could hear the riffs in the background on an earlier part of the song, which was a good touch, and Bog assumed they are maybe from the original version of So Cold . We aren't too familiar with this style of music, or the artist, but Stephanie Stryker's vocals stand out. They also carry a style that could transfer across  to goth rock/goth metal, and possibly traditional heavy metal. We aren't sure ...
