FUGITIVE - MANIAC EP (THRASH/CROSSOVER, REVIEW, 20 BUCK SPIN, 28/4/23)

Another from the Bog pool archives. Originally written 4/28/23.

If you like thrash, hardcore, metallic hc, or osdm/hm2, then Maniac is a worthy EP.

The EP opens up with The Javelin, an introductory track to set the tone and pace.

Maniac, the title song of the EP is a raging thrasher with a nice hardcore background to add to the aggression and dirt of the song.

Hells Half Acre is a great pit track with a good break down halfway through and plenty of strong riffage, and nicely timed vocals, which are continued on the next track Neutralized. It screams for a circle pit.

Maniac is rounded off with a solid cover of Bathory’s Raise The Dead, which continues the mosh vibe.

The production and audio quality are very good and clear, and the stench isn’t sacrificed. It still sounds nice and heavy, and raw enough!

Rating: Bog is no stranger to any of the bands all the members hail from. Bog wasn’t disappointed. There is sheer enjoyment to be had with the beautiful concoction of extreme metal and hardcore punk. Bog is already looking forward to hearing what FUGITIVE do next and highly recommends Maniac. If you love thrash, hardcore, and hardcore punk, especially when those styles are utilized effectively, then pre-order Maniac as soon as you can. It’s pretty awesome!
