GREH ANNOUNCE: "SUMMONING AVERSION" (SINGLE, RELEASED APRIL 30TH 2026, REVIEW) (BLACKENED DEATH)

Nasty ass blackened death. Mostly unclean and harsh vocals with brief clean interludes to add atmosphere to main leading vox. Incredibly atmospheric, and is like someone running around Bog’s murky swamp land in the mist sounding pissed off and confused. Notable moment, at 2.30 minutes ish in Summoning Aversion, the tone shifts to a haunting horror esque sound, which is quite wonderfully moody, before we return to the filthy anger, which is like someone trying to escape one of the bog swamps and is being sucked back down.

Vocally, good wide range with patient sinister pummelling riffs, supported by the drums. Interesting direction compared to earlier material, but the single has a catchy vibe. Those who like speed and want non stop pace, may not quite feel it, but Bog enjoyed the journey and how you are taken from one moment to another. It coincides with releasing pent up feelings and emotions. Bog has avoided going deep in those areas, so we don’t ruin it for you, because Summoning Aversion is a preview for the forthcoming GREH album in 2027, which they are working on at the moment. Ideal soundtrack for being lost in the swamp.

Rating: If you appreciate a mix of heavy, and the interchanges between differing builds and styles, which add atmosphere, then Summoning Aversion is to be explored and appreciated. As mentioned, the moody tone stands out, Bog nearly pooped in those moments as it’s scary, but a good scary.
