HYPERDONTIA - DERANGED (DEATH METAL, REVIEW, RELEASED 3/15/23, DARK DESCENT RECORDS/ME SACO UN OJO)
Another spat from the Bog archive pools around March, 2023.
By The Great Sweaty! Slap Bog in the face with a wet pair of pants.
Here is a release not to pass by. Deranged isn’t a filler EP, or
something where its just a one-track tease. There are plenty of mosh parts,
heavy riffs, technical intertwined rhythms too, but expertly woven in at the appropriate times
such as encountered with the solos on Deluded and Degradations of the Flesh.
Imagine someone with a huge cooking pot throwing in different aspects
to help cook the death metal recipe. It’s like a mosh chef went into the
kitchen and was throwing out the shit, and only selecting quality ingredients.
Nothing tastes like stale bread or warmed up crap from one of those shitty
all you can eat places. Just a quality offering that your pallet will want to
taste again and again.
Think classic straight up raw death metal, but also
maintaining a down tuned grime where appropriate to keep the filth within the
sound.
The only negative, it isn’t a negative really, Deranged will
leave you wanting more. The audio quality is good and Bog likes death metal bands
who don’t sacrifice the sewer sound, but actually enhance it and
find a balancing act. Certain music is meant to be clean, other styles need to
retain the dirt, and Hyperdontia certainly hold it close to their hearts, which
is beneficial for the listener.
Rating: Deranged is instantly moshable, listenable,
enjoyable, ferocious, heavy, and direct brutality, which would be a worthwhile
addition to your collection.
