PUTRID YELL "CONSUMING ABERRATION" (REVIEW, OSDM/HM2, PULVERISED RECORDS, RELEASED 4/14/23)
More from the Bog pools, adapted for the bog, originally written around May, 2023.
Putrid Yell rips like cheese thrown into a blender. Slicing
riffs and continual fury descend into sheer unpolluted horror mosh magic taking
hold of your very senses. It was hard to contain the level of excitement Bog felt
whilst listening to Consuming Aberration. The music had Bog so pumped up, its fast and raw.
To say strap in for the ride would be an understatement. Bog was consistently banging their head throughout the album. There really is no
respite apart from an interlude near the end.
If you listened to Putrid Yell without any knowledge from
where they hail, then you would safely guess they were from Sweden. The
classics of OSDM/HM2 with the riffing, pace, drums, and vocals are incredibly
present for the ear.
In all honesty, this was a hard write up. Not because the
music or anything is bad, just the opposite. I guess not to disappoint anyone
with a lack of gutter language, Putrid Yell certainly succeeded in making Bog shit with joy.
The interlude track 'Deadly Ashes' is actually a beautiful
piece of music drawing from South American culture. The final song 'Wrenching
Putrid Yell' picks up where the album has been for its entirety. Total mosh
warfare.
Rating: A completely solid and excellent debut, which was a
delight to spend time with. Go get a
copy, don't sleep.
