WAKING THE STENCH


The warriors stood in the temple, lined up on either side, arms raised high, their pits exposed towards the ceiling. In keeping with tradition, it was 2 months since any of them had seen bathing water. The smell was fetid, but necessary to summon it.

One of the warriors was sat on the floor, facing two plinths, legs crossed, arms raised, a double whammy of natural odor oozed down his body, the vapor released from his skin to fill the air. He spoke in a language, too guttural for human ears, but roughly translated;

'Wake up you lazy f, we summon thee'

Did they smell it? did they hear? did they wake?
