(BOG REVIEW) "Dämmerung" - "Son of the Mourning Star" (BLACK METAL) (RELEASED NOVEMBER 27TH)

Image
1. Ares Rising The drum count and riff build to the first drop are sick, and the music has an epic feel already. There are riff drops that inject a solid cinematic quality, which had Bog visualizing the vocalist and band performing while molten rocks and magma are spat into the air to rain down the wrath of Ares. The syncs are tight, and it's nice to hear solid drums that aren't too low. The frequencies are aligned tightly and sound balanced. This would be a sick track to drop in a live set, but be careful of the magma, because we would probably need some insurance worthy of the grand mythological scale. The outro features bullets, possibly tanks rolling along on treads , shells, and more to emphasize Ares, the God of War. It's a powerful opening to "Son Of The Morning Star." 2. Burn With Me In Hell Track 1 transitioned smoothly for "Burn With Me In Hell" to drop in with its intro, which sounds like tanks rolling again with explosions , gunfire...

(BOG REVIEW) "HEADLESS HUNTER" - "HERETICAL" (CROSSOVER/THRASH) (RELEASED OCTOBER 16TH)

Image
F*-c-k-, Bog! F*-c-k-, f*-c-k-, f*-c-k-eth! Ok, Heretical,  straight-up jump the f*-c-k- in the muck pits. Let’s get slayed, beautiful sewer stencher mosh! Bog felt like he was on his dirt bike doing f*-c-k-off whips and jumps over mounds. Bog was reminded of the time when daddy Bog would say to him, “Get down, get down ya f*-c-k-,” when lil Bog was jumping overly excited at his feet. Ok, should we get straight to it, none of that academic thesis bullshit like some f*-c-k- is wanting to prove the existence of a demonic fart in a crypt. Would you like to have the complete shit kicked out of your ears? If so, Heretical does exactly that. Let’s describe the feeling. You know when you’re in a shitty club, and they will not play anything you ask for. Magically, at the end of the night, the track you asked for 5 hours ago appears. It’s a f*c-k-i-n-g sprint to get on the floor and sweat your skin off for about 3–5 minutes. This is a whole album of that feeling. The riffs are nasty, the v...

(BOG REVIEW) "SOLIMPULSE" - "TIDEFALL" (POST METAL/ROCK, RELEASED NOVEMBER 20TH)

Image
Bog really does wish there was much more time to deep dive SOLIMPULSE by Serhii Lykhotvor , but what we can tell you is that it is very beautifully written music. The intro patiently builds with heartfelt emotion clear to hear, and it takes hold of the ears, leaving you on the journey waiting to see what happens next. Y'all, the tracks have that quality about them. It's really chill and peaceful, so it's not for those that want to jump through a door. If you are looking for something emotive, mystical, and capable of taking the mind on a long, relaxing venture, then this is where you want to be. Definitely music for self-reflection too. Standouts: Cinematic composition ; feels and sounds like a score to an epic film or a pivotal point in a series. Yulia Lykhotvor of Sidus Atrum's vocal structure on "No Horizon" , which is a slow, haunting track with a serene harmony. Guitar notes support this further and continue with the riff drop. Incredible time, lab...

(BOG REVIEW) "FIMIR" (DOOM METAL) - "OLD MASTER" (SINGLE FROM "COSMIC HEAVY DOOM", RELEASED NOV 20TH, ARGONAUTA RECORDS)

Image
Quick-fire review. Long-form return at 2K. For now, here is a super quick reaction to Fimir's single Old Master . The drumming count and build on the intro with the accompanying riff is sick to set up the build for the coming drop. It is a solid hook for the listener, and the vocal drop is smooth and syncs tightly. The riff itself is a nice, dense AF sledgehammer smashing an ice block to pieces with a consistent pace on the workflow . The backing audio and effects add a cosmic feel, which makes Bog feel like he is  floating in another dimension somewhere. It's a good inclusion of atmosphere within the track, which is supported further on the breakdown with the drum pattern taking us to the next drop, which cleanly counts in. The frequencies and audio levels are ultra clean, and there are no problems with anything being faded out or drowned out by another instrument. The vocalist has a nice range and transitions his notes smoothly. Good melody and notes on the later wor...

(BOG REVIEW) "UNBORN GENERATION" - "Kuolleena eläjät" (CRUST GRIND, SINGLE FROM THE EP "Suo kuolema", RELEASED JAN 2027 VIA INVERSE RECORDS)

Image
Quick-fire review, long-form return at 2K. Blackened vocals with a definite crust punk vibe and black metal on later parts come through with grind to present a nice offering of crust-grind . Backing vox add a nice hardcore/hc punk feel too. Instruments synced and drop in and out effectively.  Good short builds and drops to takes us into each section to hit us hard AF like a p*s-s-e-d off train.  Crust-grind mixed with blackened punk/hc.  Slaps.  Bog's Thoughts: Bog will add this to his bangers series.  Sick track and runs smoothly . Good balance between the clean and the raw. Nice outro fade-out .
