(BOG REVIEW) "FIMIR" (DOOM METAL) - "OLD MASTER" (SINGLE FROM "COSMIC HEAVY DOOM", RELEASED NOV 20TH, ARGONAUTA RECORDS)

Quick-fire review. Long-form return at 2K. For now, here is a super quick reaction to Fimir's single Old Master.
The drumming count and build on the intro with the accompanying riff is sick to set up the build for the coming drop. It is a solid hook for the listener, and the vocal drop is smooth and syncs tightly.
The riff itself is a nice, dense AF sledgehammer smashing an ice block to pieces with a consistent pace on the workflow.
The backing audio and effects add a cosmic feel, which makes Bog feel like he is floating in another dimension somewhere. It's a good inclusion of atmosphere within the track, which is supported further on the breakdown with the drum pattern taking us to the next drop, which cleanly counts in.
The frequencies and audio levels are ultra clean, and there are no problems with anything being faded out or drowned out by another instrument.
The vocalist has a nice range and transitions his notes smoothly.
Good melody and notes on the later workflow on the track with the vox dropping back on them. It conveys seeing a mysterious wanderer or wizard walking through a castle, looking out at the vastness of space, and hoping some cosmic deity isn't in a bad mood on that morning.
The melody is held for the remainder of the track and fades out nicely on the outro.
It ended the single cleanly and was an immersive and enjoyable listen.
Bog's Thoughts:
Old Master is super chill. As mentioned, there are some thick riffs in the early part of the track that could be used to smash ice blocks in half. That said, there is a nice change up to flow with the melody described, which then stimulated Bog's imagination and he was out there in the stars.
Some of the Stenchers may be thinking, you have been smoking way too much from the swamp or inhaling too many fumes from the muck pools.
Sometimes, when not coordinating battle plans to destroy golf and smash the gate, Bog's mind wanders a little, and Old Master was a perfect companion.
It is an enjoyable piece of music. It is composed and recorded very well, as is evident with the audio levels from the mixing and mastering.
Bog could hear their influences shining strongly, which some folks may argue is too close to that side of things.
Old Master sparks the imagination and has a very relaxing feel, which Bog enjoyed.
The single is taken from their second album "Cosmic Heavy Doom", which is available on Nov 20th via Argonauta Records.
