TRUTH & DA BEATMINERZ - (BOOM BAP, UNDERGROUND HIP HOP, REVIEW) Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 (RELEASED NOV 21, 2025, ANIMAL MILITARY RECORDS)

Yo, what's good again Bogs? Real talk, here is a drop Bog has to share. Truth serves a joint that is straight up fire with unfiltered New York street flavor. Real Hip Hop that hasn't been tarnished and sold as weak sauce with its soul missing. Bog hopes you feel what he felt whilst listening to Nostalgia ThEraPy 2. It's one of those albums where you just gotta hand someone your head phones and say; "listen to this", then you watch their face when they hear the non polished realness.

Truth's lyricism talks about bringing back the soul of hip hop and its essence. When the lyrics could be understood, deep thought was invested into the bars and their delivery, words had meaning, and it wasn't disposable and stripped down to a mumble.

It's a driving force behind his music and word play, and connects nicely with the gritty streets beats and production. For example, your ears will recognize that your listening to some real cats with mad tight poetry combined with honest beats created from a love for that authentic boom bap sound by Da Beatminerz.

The beats would be sick to drop to get a crowd moving, or an urban street party to get the block pumping together. So much caught Bog's ears with the beats, so we took a deep mucky bog dive to relate what he heard, and how the music builds, flows, vibes, and not to forget the drum loops, kicks, drops, rhythm timing, feels, and also the transitions are incredible.

Bog just about burst with excitement and fell off his muck ridden magical device he uses in another world.

Bog thought it was a sonically pleasing album on so many levels, so now we have the easy task of trying to do Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 justice.

The Percussion and frequencies, just whooooa! They don't drop at any level, just flows.

1. Painful Truth (feat. DJ JS-1) - Good opener with the 1, 2, 3 kick and piano keys functioning like beats too. They add to the melody of the track and there are moments when the sample holds for a second on the piano keys to add another element to Painful Truth. The production on Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 is secure af and we hear how well formed, constructed, and engineered the beats are. No disjointed feels.

Memorable melody, strong beats with a rhythm that doesn't drop, solid samples, and Truth's flow is an instant ear grabber. Easy to listen, clear to understand, and projects very well. The track feels balanced, layered, and each part comes in at the correct time. Bog guesses we could say it's a mid paced track, which takes us nicely into the next tracks, which are bangers. Bog's mind is visualizing again.

Probably are going to mention the subway over and over, but it's like riding around on the train whilst this plays. Bog would listen to Painful Truth in his own world whilst observing the hustle. Outro has a signature tone we heard on the album, which are very clean ends to tracks, no abrupt stops, it's super clean. Cats sometimes forget, a track can just drop, but Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 demonstrates the care taken to ensure everything runs pristinely.

2. "Want It Back" talks about when New York was very different, real hip hop on the corners. Truth is stressing to take the legacy, apply it to now, so we can preserve the culture and ensure real hip hop lives.

Bog respects and appreciates Truth's hunger and real talk delivery. Flow is nice and syncs in with the beat. Real solid big ass thumping mid paced boom bap beat, which stops and starts to support the lyricism. It means a bar can introduce the context, set up the next verse, and so on. Nice kinda 1, 2, 3, feels on this. Jab, cross, hook, bang!

The audio samples dropped on Want It Back add to the street vibe. It's almost like the smell from the subway represents the time before hip hop was corrupted. The piano keys that drop in bring in, add an urgency with other subtle audio samples heightening the feels. The opening verse and chorus repeats wanting the old New York back, not the mumble rap, and such. There is much more to the lyricism, but Bog doesn't want to spoil it for y'all, but this line breaks it down nicely "It's been a minute since New York sounds like New York again", Truth (Want It Back).

Fade out the on outro is nice both for the beats and flow, quietly takes us out to drop in track 3. Redrum Seen (feat. DJ JS-1). Bogs, Want It Back had the feels, but this just bangs, hits so hard, and drops fire. It's the knock out, we are only on track 3! As soon as Redrum Seen began, Bog just about shit em tbh. Ya know that dark fire sinister hip hop, but is real af, this<<<<

Ok, enough corn balling around for a moment, Bog's taking up a seat for a moment to break this down.

The intro drops with the 1, 2, 3 beat kicks with those sinister vibes we referenced, but there are sick piano keys. The production is really on point. The beat is clear, Bog could hear how it was the foundation musically, then it's paired with the other elements mentioned. The effect on the piano keys, which chime in like a beat are tight and are co-ordinated mega slick. The samples run like part of the narrative, it helps bring the lyricism and music to life for the listeners, and there are some nice scratch samples too.

Bog's head was nodding and banging non-stop to Redrum Seen (feat. DJ JS-1) and counting the beats that are like a boxer's combination to the ears.

The outro is sick and comes to a stop, but even though it's sudden, it doesn't feel abrupt. Some artists in all genres can sometimes close out too fast. Musically, Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 doesn't have that problem, and visually it's like Truth steps back into the shadows on the street corner. Dark and atmospheric.

4. Cause For Concern (feat. Psycho Les & Tragedy Khadafi) - Is another banger and grabs the ears with a hard hitting hook. Bog was happy to have his ears boxed by all 3 MCs. So, let's break some bread and take a deep dive into the track.

Start "Listen close, this is for your own concern" with an echo on concern, beat kicks in 4 seconds, boom bap rhythm, Psycho Les opens with a shout to the "Beat Minerz", so we know it's going to go off. Nice melody on the intro, adding a subtle line whilst Psycho Les is helping the build and hyping us up, then he goes in 24 seconds with his bars.

He has that smooth, direct delivery, and the flow is on point. It's clear for the ear, runs with the build and transitions to Truth's verse at about 1.07.

Clear thing shining, it's no nonsense, presents itself well with smartly crafted lyricism, so it's not just a mumbling montage of wack. What Bog is trying to say, music with no ego, here is what we are and are doing, listen up. Has that vibe.

The beat stays constant, high tempo, no standing still, there is an energy, it's infectious. The melody on the track is well synced with the beat and it's interesting, because it's a gentle subtle addition, but doesn't pull down the street vibe and flow. Structurally solid af, you just know good music when you hear it regardless of genre.

2.08 Tragedy Khadafi joins the track and adds fire on fire. Clear, direct, and there are some sick references in the bars.

The outro at 3.10 ish fades quiet back to the shadows again. Build, flow, delivery all here with Cause For Concern.

5. Done Did It (feat. DJ JS-1) - Calmer beat, more of a slower count, but still sick. Flow, delivery, projection are clear and direct again, but aren't drowned out by the audio, nor do the beats and instrumentational drops blend out. It's like a sick chill with the gutter flow. Echo out at the end is nice and subtle.

6. Check It Out - Hands up in the air waving track. Super chill, jazzy ish feels. Like with Done Did It, it's one of the lighter tracks, but Truth is dropping bombs and is uncompromizing. Fierce clean distinguishable words, which are vital for delivering conscious bars.

Beat is consistent, slower tempo like with Done It, but is a catchy track, and is nice on the ears. Flows like a boxer shadow sparring, but a chilled approach. Truth's bars are also in the same style on Check It Out, they build and flow with the musical pace. Interesting samples too, especially the female vox "Check it out".

7. Get To It (feat. Royal Flush) - Bluesy feeling joint. The only track Bog didn't feel, but let's break it down a little. Musically arranged and built very well, structure is tight, and the bluesy melody with the sax or trumpet sample, add to the soulful feeling with Get To It. Bog ears thought Get To It was a chill joint, one to listen when driving around, or relaxed on a beach. Not West Coast vibes, just a slower track.

Truth and Royal Flush drop their bars fine and are on point. Good and solid lyricism, and they complement each other, but Bog feels the other tracks hook the ears tighter, especially the first five. But, if you prefer the bluesy kinda soulful side, then Get To It will rank higher with your ears.

Don't feel us wrong, this is a sick album, Bog really enjoyed it, but we always breakdown what we hear, what we like, what we feel, and such.

Rating: Nostalgia ThEraPy 2 is such a hard album to sum up, a good problem to face. It's good, really good, and Bog is laying this down right now. He started scribing, then returned to the Bog Lands for a few days to gather his thoughts.

The lyricism is intelligent, smartly crafted, and projected well for the ears, which makes them accessible and easy to follow. They carry the New York street energy and vibe, coupled with the precise flow.

The beat production from Da Beatminerz, Bog was about falling over his magical device when they hit his ears. Some of the beats, such as track 3, Redrum Seen (feat. DJ JS-1) just have to be heard.

Authentic street driven boom bap with a conscious head with well thought out lyrics. Da Beatminerz beats also carry the energy, enthusiasm, and passion, which were obviously poured into their creation.

A fire, fire album. Don't sleep. #smashthegate
