KNEEL BEFORE THE DEATH (DEATHCORE, REVIEW) - "RED SUN DAWN" (RELEASED JUNE MAY 29, RANKA KUSTANNUS)
Kneel Before The Death play incredible music with a strong cinematic feel that had Bog imagining a ship appearing from behind a planet. Bog was scared! He thought The Gate had sent one of its carrier ships into the Bog lands. Bog was hiding under the stone bog bed with his armpit raised, ready to defend himself.
Kneel Before The Death's base sound is rooted in Deathcore from what Bog can hear on Red Sun Dawn, but the band are not afraid to experiment and bring in other influences. Bog cannot stress to y'all enough how Red Sun Dawn sounds like a sci-fi epic.
The symphonic and classical music sampling combined with the blast beats reinforce this feeling and it brought back terrifying memories of The Gate's forces opening fire upon The Reaping Sands.
The pacing is good, and drops in and out for flowing key moments to emphasize the cinematic feeling described.
The backing chants reminded Bog of when the tribes are gathered in the Bog Lands. It's like hearing a group of warriors chanting to the music and it backs up the atmosphere x100.
There are some well-placed piano key drops, which build the tension and danger throughout the track, combined with sick guitar riffs and frantic drumming rhythms.
The only area Bog didn't enjoy were the backing vocals, but it's just Bog's personal taste.
2:44-2:59 is an atmosphere break. Think of bracing for impact before the lead vocals drop in again at 2:59 to set up an interesting outro with djent elements, then the classical symphonic elements sync the listener's ear for the journey's end.
There is a slight cybernetic feel to the last section with a riff breakdown structure like a flak cannon bombarding the skies above. The chants on the outro reinforce the mentioned cinematic tension throughout the track.
Bog's Thoughts: Red Sun Dawn is different, featuring tight and synced instrumentation, and balanced frequencies, which do not lower the audio quality in any area.
The production is clean, solid, and structured to present the sonic feeling and vision for Red Sun Dawn.
Red Sun Dawn builds and flows nicely with some sick drops both vocally and instrumentally.
The only area Bog didn't enjoy were the backing vocals outside the main vox, but that's just Bog's personal taste.
Kneel Before The Death are appealing for those who enjoy imaginative concepts running like a score with heavy music. The builds in and out of Red Sun Dawn had Bog's other brain thinking of what to do with them in a set on notable moments to make the room go boom.
An interesting and exciting listen with immersive, ear-grabbing components from the intro to the outro.
Sci-fi orientated big heavy feels combined to play musical cosmic dread!
