MUCK SCROLLS PT 12 - ASPHAGOR - PYROGENESIS (BLACK METAL, REVIEW) - (MDD RECORDS, RELEASED 2023)

Muck Scrolls

They are super short bog spews from the muck revolving around bands/artists early releases. Some of which may no longer be active, but the bogs spat them out to be shared.

*Short overviews, not so much on the deep dive side or audio commentary*

The intro track Ex Cathedra was cool and features a slow atmospheric build up to something ominous.

Hooks in the listener. The riffs come in at the end to give you a tease of what is coming.

Pyrogenesis has a wide range from both the music and vocals.

There is a mix of furious riffs, head banging parts, but with a melodic edge.

Vocally it's really good and there are some chanting sections on some of the songs, such as Nine Moons.

The pace frequents from fast to mid, and pausing for slow sombre tones.

In some parts it even felt grungy in sound, so there is a lot of various influences and creativity behind the music.

The majority of Pyrogenesis is a worthwhile listen featuring a wide spectrum of melodies and pace.
