(BOG REVIEW) - "THRASH MOB" - "HATE, RAGE AND A WHOLE LOTTA KILLIN EP" (THRASH, RELEASED NOVEMBER 20TH, INDEPENDENT)
Hey Stenchers, we are back with a quick-fire transmission for Thrash Mob, who are sick, stenchy thrash badasses for y'all!
Before stepping any further, the artwork is sick AF and definitely has Bog thinking that dude is going to swing his axe and shout, "f*-c-k off you supernatural f*-c-k!"
Normally, Bog would take a much deeper dive and breakdown of HATE, RAGE AND A WHOLE LOTTA KILLIN'.
1. Justice is Done - Simply put, this track is built for swinging heads around in a pit at breakneck speeds and will ensure your armpits stink of mosh fuel. There is a nice riff breakdown with a hardcore vibe, which is something Bog will comment on again on the EP.
Bog wants to shout out the drummer—nice drop-in and patterns on that breakdown, which runs smooth with the BPM and pace. Adds that nice component where you feel like headbanging again, but with your face displaying the same expression as the barbarian guy on Thrash Mob's artwork when he is clearing out dungeons of more supernatural f*c-k-s-.
When you hear it y'all, you will get it; it sets up the build for the guitar drop to come in, and hearing this live, people would stand in formation in a contest of who could exfil the most sweat onto others.
Syncing and audio are nice across low, medium, and high.
2. Tortured Beyond Death - Continues the dark fantasy theme, and the build to the change-up to adjust the pace/tempo is nicely orchestrated. When the riff drop signals the war pits to start, then it's easily ripping thrash to break necks. The drumming patterns flow nicely again, including the count after the mosh section, which is pretty badass.4. The Executioner - This track is a badass with a nice dirty tone retaining the stompy AF hardcore feel, and it has a sick hook to catch the ears.
You know the feeling you get when you are in a pit, the band drops that riff, and everyone stops briefly for a moment, then you turn around to signal the troops to start running before smashing into each other in a sensible manner.
There are nice transitions, change-ups, syncs, and it's a track worthy of barbarian fury in a fantasy land.
5. Bring The Purge - A solid closing track with well-timed change-ups, dropbacks, counts, and pace transitions. The signature notes are sick and Bog has to repeat again: Thrash Mob's drummer has solid patterns again and complements the track. The audio frequency on the low is nice, and runs coherently to close out the EP.There were moments listening when Bog smashed a few walls with his tummy due to overexcitement. May have to repair it soon, but not today.
Bog's Thoughts:
HATE, RAGE AND A WHOLE LOTTA KILLIN' sounds and feels like solid, heavy pit music, which Bog thinks they can take forward and increase it 1000%. Why? The use of hardcore in some of the riffs and breakdowns could set up seriously intense pit tracks for future releases and be a dominant factor.
They have a rawness present in some sections of the tracks' workflows, which Bog appreciated, and his ears were shouting, "Yo, get the f*c-k- up and mosh like f*-c-k-"
If the band takes this "catch the ears" vibe, hits even harder on music to come where people will know within the first note or two that this is a much more fun way to sweat off last week's 5 cakes from Aunty Maureen.
Get on it!
