AMPS KILL (DARK AMBIENT/INDUSTRIAL) - 'AVULSE' EP (RELEASED JULY 23) (BOG REVIEW)

Disclaimer: Bog is dealing with extreme weather patterns in the Bog Lands, so our usual deep dive approach is on the shelf until the storms subside. 

Bog isn't sure if his wax-ridden muck ears are detecting an influence, but the EP Avulse sounds like a cosmic electronic version of sludge. The lo-fi, nasty, unforgiving sonic dread is all over the first four tracks.
In sections, the bass, structure, and composition are like a riff stripped bare and stretched across the galaxy.
If Bog were not challenged by extreme weather patterns in the Bog Lands, he would have written much more about the timing, patterns, arrangement, sequencing, and such, but it's a quick style approach for now.
Bog's Thoughts: Excellently composed and presented as a truly horrific, yet also captivating score of dread painting a visual picture of isolation and fear while traversing space.
The closing track Des Pas Sur La Cendre is the lightest and has a mystical quality.
For the stomp lovers, Avulse is probably not your vibe, but it runs like a soundtrack, or score that would be perfect for sci-fi horror.
Bog appreciated the work invested in the production (really good, no issues), layering, and the organisation of the tracks, which are like chapters in a story.
Sit in the backyard at 2:30 am, turn the volume up and scare yourself. The drops on the tracks had Bog's mouth foaming.

BEAUTIFUL FREAKIN' WEIRDO: ZAP THE FEAR (INDUSTRIAL METAL, RELEASED INDEPENDENTLY 08/08/25, REVIEW)

Beautiful Freakin' Weirdo released Zap The Fear a few months ago and is an Industrial Metal offering featuring 3 high octane tracks through a lyrical, and musical journey about real world hell and the psychological connection to it. I am Fire   has an upbeat rhythm with a consistent pace designed to keep people on the dance floor. It's kind of a mix between Static X with Rob Zombie with a slow acid techno hook coming around 2 minutes in. The vocals deliver the chorus effectively with a catchy riff serving as the signature for the song along with a fast paced beat for the drums with fairly high BPM. Psychohead continues on from the fast opening to maintain the pace and not allow people to leave the dancefloor. The drums are particularly good on this track, and support the guitars and vocals nicely. BLOOD HANDSOME: 'NOSTALGIA HOLD' (STRICT TEMPO, RELEASED SEPT 5TH, DARKWAVE/SYNTH, REVIEW)

Bog was due to write about Blood Handsome later on the schedule, but it was moved forward to feature something different from other underground music. Bog will be writing from the stance of what he hears, he doesn't know too much about this/or the particular style/scene, so disclaimer alert. Bog writes about what he hears, and how it makes him think/feel. Blood Handsome opens with Abandon,  which is an up tempo track with a beat that people can move/bounce too. Futuristic and feels ahead of its time, but also embodies the synth/goth influences, which Bog can hear. I guess dark synth with a little cyberpunk to a point that invokes the imagination to think of cyberpunk movies/novels, and generally space/planets, and all things in the not so distant future.  Abandon has a sinister/dark vibe, leaving the impression of robots dancing on a space station.
