(BOG REVIEW) - ENEMIES EVERYWHERE - MY VENGEANCE (METALCORE/DEATHCORE, RELEASED JUNE 26TH, RANKA KUSTANNUS)
My Vengeance is a blend of extreme metal with metalcore for the first part of the track and transitions to deathcore in latter parts.
The production and frequencies are good, but Bog wasn't so crazy on the higher pitched vocals on My Vengeance. Not that they are bad, but would have liked them to be more guttural in parts to go with the faster paced sections on the track, which are good and pit worthy.
The traditional metalcore and deeper vocaled deathcore vox work, but the higher tone during the symphonic interludes, and on some of the melodic high speed transitions give the track a milder feel.
It's not a bad track, but maybe some of the higher tone vocals could have been dialled back, so they aren't as prominent.
Bog's Thoughts: The composition and musical craft are solid, but My Vengeance feels if the arrangement was better, then the faster parts and symphonic passages would hit harder.
Drumming and guitars are well synced and mastered, and generally run in time with each other.
The varying instrumental arcs are interesting and provide My Vengeance with a broad dynamic, but the track doesn't quite feel heavy enough, and the higher pitched vocal tones don't quite flow with the music compared to the deeper vox. It is not bad music by any measure, it just doesn't quite hit hard enough for the sound.
